Sick Puppies Wave The Bull Album Review

We’ve waited almost ten years for this album, and it’s finally arrived! Right off the bat, I just want to say how much I love Bryan and how he is such a welcome addition to this band. It’s always hard to replace a beloved singer like Shim. Trust me—I loved Shim as much as I love pizza!

There are so many thoughts in my head about the lead-up to this album—how I felt when I first heard it and how I feel after letting it soak in.

Let’s start with this: I always get nervous when a band takes this much time off, especially after releasing an incredible album like Fury. It is genuinely my favorite Sick Puppies album. I know some people may not appreciate me saying that, since Shim had classic songs and albums, but Fury made me realize just how much I enjoy Bryan Scott’s voice. I didn’t even have to adjust to a new singer—I was immediately amazed at how well his clean vocals blended with his screams.

So, I was nervous—how do you follow up a great album like Fury? Especially after taking that much time off. You better come out absolutely swinging for the fences! (Is it weird using baseball analogies when I’ve never actually watched a game?)

I’m happy to say I spent half the day listening to this album over and over again… well, you get the point. It’s a really solid album that has a bit of everything. Adorable Emma takes the lead vocals on one of the songs, Fix Me. Then there’s Going Places, which has a very different, almost silly/comedic tone. I’m not sure if it was meant that way, but the lyrics definitely have a humorous feel—”Tell that landlord no, he ain’t getting paid!”

You have amazing clean vocals, heavier rock/metal screams, and incredible solos. It has everything you would want in a Sick Puppies album.

Wave The Bull does a great job of conveying the hardships of life—all the ups and downs. But overall, it’s about never giving up and finding the strength to keep fighting for what you believe in. Life isn’t always going to work out the way you hope. What’s important is being able to find love within yourself and the courage to keep fighting for your self-worth.

I also found out Emma has been working with Evanescence! And I only discovered that because I went to their concert and thought… Emma, did you get lost!? How did you get here!? I’ve been busy time-traveling, so I don’t always keep up-to-date with band members who join other bands on the side!

The nice thing about being able to travel through time and dimensions is I can see Sick Puppies in concert anytime I want! It’s one of the many perks of being Dizzy Parker from Hollywood! My girlfriend, Yumi, once bought me tickets that included a meet-and-greet, and they were such nice people! Bryan’s hair is on point—I really want to know which hair products he uses! Please!

Until next time, my loves!

-Dizzy
