The Mightiest Pen

A pen is one of the most powerful objects in the world. Think about it…

How many laws have been passed? How many contracts have been written? How many people have been hurt or even gotten jobs that changed their lives because of the mightiest pen? Of course, I’m talking about before computers became a thing.

For me, writing stories has always been an escape from reality—at least before I could time travel and all that.

We take so much for granted. We wander mindlessly through the day, searching for our next coffee fix, clinging to whatever sanity we have left before heading to work or picking up the kids from school. We easily overlook—or simply don’t care to notice—the little things in life that aren’t so little after all.

Before we could store everything on a computer, we needed a pen to keep history alive—to keep our memories alive. Where would humanity be if the mightiest pen had never existed at all? I shudder just thinking about it!

My girlfriend, Yumi, once gave me a pack of 20 pens for Christmas, and I nearly cried! She really knows how to warm my little heart. Nothing says “I love you” quite like gifting someone that much power! A wise person once said, “With great power comes great responsibility,” and, boy, do I feel that deep in the darkest pits of my soul!

Whenever I travel back in time, it’s always important to write down everything I see, hear, touch, taste, or smell (hopefully nothing bad!). Computers aren’t always around. It makes you wonder how we ever made it through life without Google. Remember when the internet was new, and we thought the possibilities were endless? Now all we do is watch cute cat videos! Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course! (By the way, I woke up today with my cat’s butt in my face, so that’s always a fun way to start the day!)

Ever think about how a pen is like a best friend who’s always there for you? Sometimes, you might even argue with it—like when it decides to explode all over my favorite sparkling red dress! (I’ll never forget that, by the way! Forgiven, but never forgotten!) You can do so many things with a pen—like draw, write, or even do magic tricks to amaze all your friends!

The important thing to remember is that when you take little things for granted, you close your life off to many great moments. I learned a very valuable lesson—if I can paraphrase a quote from the incredible Lillian Garcia—you should never put the word “just” in front of anything. “It’s JUST a pen.” “I’m JUST a cashier.” It devalues things, and every single thing in this world is important.

My goal is to help you appreciate things. The next time you reach for your pen, I hope you’ll think of me—little ol’ Dizzy and her admiration for life. On her quest to search for everyday inspiration, whether it’s in the real world or my digital AI self. Until next time, my loves!

Until next time, my loves!
